An event facility in northern New Jersey needed reliable cooling for a busy summer event season. The building had no permanent HVAC system. It was a large, older structure with high ceilings and available electrical infrastructure, but nothing in place to manage summer temperatures and humidity.
The stakes were straightforward. During the summer months in northern New Jersey, temperatures climb, and humidity makes conditions quickly uncomfortable. This facility regularly hosts formal events with over a hundred guests in suits and evening wear. Keeping that environment comfortable is not optional; it is a requirement of doing business.
The facility owner had an additional constraint that made this more than a standard cooling job. Portable units placed on the event floor were not acceptable. The facility hosts formal affairs where the setting matters as much as the temperature. Visible equipment, noise, or anything that interrupted the ambiance was off the table.
The ask was specific: deliver effective cooling for a large, unventilated event space without the guests ever knowing it was there.
Before any equipment was specified, our team from REIC Rentals visited the facility and conducted a full site assessment. Getting the cooling right in a building like this requires more than a BTU calculation. It requires understanding how the space actually behaves.

Every one of those factors shaped the equipment selection and placement decision that followed.
Based on the assessment, a 25-ton commercial air conditioning unit was selected. The size was right for the building volume, the occupancy load, and the need to maintain comfortable temperatures through peak summer heat and humidity.
Placement was the critical decision. Our REIC Rentals team used the natural slope of the property to position the unit at the rear of the building, below the main event level. This kept the unit completely out of sight from guests and out of the event space entirely.
Temporary ducting was installed to carry conditioned air from the exterior unit up into the main hall. The facility already had fans distributed throughout the rooms, which the team incorporated into the distribution plan to circulate cool air evenly across the space. This avoided the need for additional visible equipment inside the venue.
The result was a system that was effectively invisible to the guests. The unit outside produced minimal noise, and once the event space was filled with guests, it was undetectable. The ducting ran discreetly, and the existing fan infrastructure handled the distribution.
The facility has hosted multiple successful events since the rental unit arrived. Not one guest has questioned the temperature or noticed the temporary cooling system. The owner achieved exactly what they needed: a comfortable environment for formal events, with no compromise to the setting.
The facility owner has kept the unit rented for the entire summer season. Given the results, that decision was easy to make.
Temporary cooling done well is invisible. The equipment serves the space without defining it. Getting there requires a real site assessment, careful equipment selection, and a placement and distribution plan built around how the space actually works.
