Every fall, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) hosts a high-profile charity gala at the Philadelphia Navy Yard — one of the city’s most anticipated events of the year. This year’s gala took place inside a large, fully enclosed tent, where comfort and air quality were critical for more than 1,000 guests.
The REIC Rentals team was called in to engineer a complete temporary climate control solution capable of keeping guests comfortable through unpredictable fall temperatures — all while maintaining strict timelines, quiet operation, and minimal disruption to event setup.
The event tent covered a large footprint and required even temperature control throughout the space, regardless of outdoor fluctuations. The setup team faced tight turnaround times — only a few days for installation — and needed equipment that could quickly shift between cooling and heating modes as temperatures changed throughout the evening.
Comfort, noise level, and precision control were all essential. The client’s goal was clear:

Each unit was strategically placed around the perimeter of the tent to ensure balanced airflow and seamless temperature control.
Our crew arrived several days ahead of the event to coordinate with tent installers, power providers, and event planners — ensuring that ducting and electrical connections were safely integrated into the layout before guests arrived.
The system allowed the on-site team to monitor and adjust temperature in real time, maintaining ideal comfort levels throughout the evening as outside conditions shifted.
