CASE STUDY | Construction Heating Case Study: High-Rise Construction

Construction Heater Rentals – New York

The Challenge

multi-story high-rise construction project in a major city required a dependable temporary heating solution to stay on schedule. More than 60 floors were under construction, with 16 mid-level floors requiring continuous heat for concrete curing and worker comfort.

The building had no natural gas risers and no temporary electrical infrastructure, making electric heaters impractical. Additionally, strict city regulations prohibited the use of propane heaters due to safety concerns and the risk of explosion. Carbon monoxide emissions were also required to remain below 50 parts per million (ppm).

These constraints left the contractor with limited heating options during peak winter conditions.

The Solution

REIC Rentals provided a safe, compliant, and efficient heating strategy using JetHeat GT1400 flameless heaters. The contractor rented four units, each capable of heating multiple floors simultaneously.

Heat was distributed evenly across the building using temporary trunk lines and split ducting, ensuring consistent temperature control throughout the 16 floors that required heating.

As construction progressed, additional localized heating was needed in remote areas for surface preparation, painting, and moisture drying. To meet this need, the contractor added portable, standalone JetHeat GT1400 units, which could be easily moved through doorways to deliver clean, dry, breathable air exactly where it was required.

The Results

Despite record-low winter temperatures, REIC Rentals’ heating solution allowed the project to continue without delays. The flameless heaters delivered consistent heat without the need for external power sources and safely met all emissions and regulatory requirements.

The flexible ducting design enabled each heater to replace multiple conventional units, reducing equipment requirements and improving overall efficiency.

The Outcome

By using REIC Rentals JetHeat flameless heaters, the contractor reduced downtime, increased worker productivity, and avoided costly contractual penalties. The project remained on schedule throughout the winter, with reliable, safe, and efficient temporary heat supporting critical construction activities.
