A major oil and gas producer operating in one of Canada’s coldest regions was preparing for several critical winter construction activities, including concrete curing, pump station coating, and heating hoardings. These operations required a consistent, reliable heat source to stay on schedule.
However, the heaters currently on site were unable to deliver sufficient, evenly distributed heat. Cold spots were common, which increased the risk of rework and potentially delayed the plant’s targeted startup date.
In addition, strict regulations prohibited the use of propane heaters due to the risk of explosion, and carbon monoxide emissions were required to remain below 50 ppm—further limiting viable heating options.

To address these challenges, the customer replaced 14 conventional heaters with 7 REIC Rentals JetHeat flameless industrial heaters, immediately reducing equipment congestion and decluttering the worksite.
REIC Rentals’ JetHeat units feature industry-leading static pressure, allowing heated air to be delivered hundreds of feet using flexible ducting. This enabled clean, breathable, and dry heat to be distributed evenly across the workspace, eliminating cold spots and significantly improving performance compared to previous technology.
The improved heat distribution allowed concrete to cure faster over larger areas, helping the project get ahead of schedule. For delicate pump station coating work, the dry heat maintained stable ambient conditions, eliminating the risk of rework and shortening coating time.
Safety was also enhanced. REIC Rentals’ heaters feature 110% fuel containment, exceeding oil and gas safety standards and eliminating the need for a fire watch.
Even during a winter where temperatures consistently dropped below –40°F, the heaters’ cold-start capability and instant heat output ensured uninterrupted operation.
